Welcome to ALPHA CHI OMEGA at the University of Maryland
Welcome to our site! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and learn more about our chapter. Spring 2009 was a busy semester for the Gamma Theta sisters. We began with Spring recruitment and welcomed 25 new sisters into the chapter. We also took a trip to Great Falls, Virginia and participated in a sisterhood hike. For Greek Week we paired up with Phi Gamma Delta and Sigma Beta Rho and won first place overall for the third consecutive year! We also placed first in the backdrop, kickball and volleyball competitions. It was a very fun and successful week for the whole team!
The chapter participated in many service activities this Spring. On March 1st the sisters celebrated Hera Day by making sandwiches and volunteering at local grocery stores to ask for donations for Martha’s Table, a shelter in Washington, D.C. We took part in a chapter-wide service project, where the sisters went to the Pathways shelter in Washington, D.C., to entertain and get to know the women there. We also hosted numerous hot dog sales to benefit victims of domestic violence.
Alpha Chi Omega connected with other campus organizations throughout the year. We joined Kappa Phi Lambda for a private yoga class. We also met with representatives from the Jewish Student Union to learn more about our different organizations.
The Gamma Theta sisters were most excited for the re-opening of our chapter house this March! After almost two years of renovations, we were finally able to return home. We hosted an Open House to celebrate the completion of the renovation this March where the sisters welcomed family, friends and alumna to their new home.
