DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS Our cause is supporting victims of domestic violence and increasing awareness of this heartbreaking issue. Through different events and programs throughout the school year, Alpha Chi's strive to make a difference in our community. We believe that it is our responsibility to make a difference for our sisters, and for women and children in the communities in which we live. Our members give back in a multitude of ways. They participate weekly in the Ten-Women Plan program, volunteer at local women’s shelters and collect clothing and personal items for women and children living in local shelters. Each October, in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, they also organize campus and community events, including a luminary campaign. This event sheds light on this, often hidden, epidemic. Throughout the year they host late-night Hot Dog Sales, as well as host an annual Dodge Domestic Violence Dodge Ball Tournament; all of the proceeds of these events go to supporting victims of domestic violence. ALPHA CHI OMEGA FOUNDATION Another way our members give back is by supporting the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation. The Alpha Chi Omega Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the fraternity, which provides support to individual members, chapters and to the Fraternity in the form of educational grants. The Alpha Chi Omega Foundation provides scholarships for young women, educational programming to instill leadership skills and funding for local philanthropic initiatives in the community. The Foundation financially supports Leadership Academy, IMPACT Alpha Chi Omega, Kristen's Story, as well as other educational programs. THE MACDOWELL COLONY The MacDowell Colony, located in Peterborough, New Hampshire, was Alpha Chi Omega's first altruistic project and upholds our tradition of interest in the fine arts.
